your totally right. north west Ireland is probably the best because it catches the best of the stronger northern swell. Bundoran in Donegal, is probably the most popular spots and has a great point, long beach breaks and a little bombie in town that gets real hollow. Easky, on the Sligo coast, is about 50 mins drive from Bundoran. Absolutely sick waves in large or smaller swell. Camping is, or was no problem down near the old tower. everyone just camps in the field in busses, cars and tents. If you get unlucky and get a more southerly swell, then spanish point on the Claire Coast is your best bet. here is a little link that might help, but if you get a north swell hit easky (and dont be scared to drive down little lanes around the place to find desserted barrels).
