anyone in this crazy country ride the right surf craft, that being a bodyboard?

Nja, there you are a bit far out young boy! I have seen many realy hot girls out there on this " flotte " . My theory is that all the kicking with their feet gives them a good welltrained body.

In reality, I don't care what people ride and ride a standup a bit myself...when there aren't barrels to be had on my boogie. Was just interested to see if there were any other bodyboarders on the site...

I ride the bodyboard Just havent tried it here in sweden yet...

For me, bodyboarding is the way to go when the waves are to "dumpy" or in a rough shorebreak, in other words, spots where your average standup-surfer wouldn´t go!'

I do admit that I never in my life have seen a good bodyboarder and that may be the reason that I don´t want them around our lineups, mostly they are dropping in our just being in the way.
Maybe one day i will change my mind when a good bodyboarder shows up and shows me how its done...

I`m also sure im not alone in this issue, any surfer thats been outside sweden in summertime would know...

I started to write a lengthy response to this but then I stopped cos I can't be bothered. All I'll say is that you summed it up nicely when you said that the best waves for bodyboarding are the places the average standup surfer wouldn't go. Shoreys sometimes yes, but heavy waves with steep take-offs more than that. Most of the places the average surfer has been, the decent bodyboarders might not bother with, so its true you probably only have seen the kooks (like me).

Look up Max here in the forum - there's others too - He's got my respect as does anyone enjoying waves and makinin it fun for others in the water. Welcome to surfsverige and all the "secret" spots!

Bodyboarding is a great supplement for standing up. As many of us arent born by the ocean its easier to specify on one genre and the one that makes sence in most of the waves we see. crumbly beachbreaks and standing up. People that are actual surfers that spend time by the ocean most likely go bodysurf and bodyboard when waves are heavy in certain ways. Joel Parkinson and may more shreds on bodyboards not to talk about body surfing. Its a great way to learn more about waves and have fun in different conditions. MAX on the forum used to boadyboard only and competed for sweden in different comps.
I think he has been on a normal surfboard for a couple of years and surf whatever board for its best conditions... surfingsurfingsurfing.......

There is certain waves in Sweden I would consider bodyboard being the choise, but I dont have one.

Shit I type too fast. I wrote that wrong. The Sharkboy DOES consider a bodyboard that all surfers need to know how to use. Sorry for the misunderstanding

one of my best friends Mick Northcote, from the northern beaches of sydney, who now owns a 54ft sailboat and does tours to New Caledonia and beyond, and is as hardcore as ANY surfer can be, AND one of the best surfers in Australia started off surfing on a boogieboard and did it for a loooong time before he switched to stand up surfing,,boogie boarding gave him some of the best tube riding and control skills i have ever seen in a surfer...i will find his web page address and put it in if i find it,, he's a legend...officially named...DR DREDD or THE BUSH DOCTOR by me...

I started of bodyboarding and still prefer it in some conditions as I just started surfing on the stand-up boards, so I use it here in Sweden when I am to tired to paddle out to the line-up and when it is rough in Torö. It is especially a good options when the takeoffs are steep and dificult/impossible for the stand up boarder.

For example, in one spot in Barcelona (Montgat), where I lived last year, there was a break that the stand upsurfers only could take off to the left, whereas we bodyboarders got a nice drop and could kiss the lip/do aerials when going to the right and the way was closing. Considering the fact that there was usually like 40 surfers on that peek and a maximum of two bodyboarders, we had the possibility to get a nice run in every set as supposed to the stand up surfers that suffered from the crowd.

Åden: Bodyboarders can almost lay as deep as longboarders on a slow wave as Torö...
