We know how to scare 'em but do we know how to encourage more women/girls to start surfing? Suggestions? Unserious responces can start their own thread please!! Mayby a Intro Day with some sponsoring or ppl that can lend out their gear = wetsuits, boards etc ....

why would I? I don't promote guys to start surfing? wouldn't that be särbehandling? That's the opposite of treating someone equal isn't it?

My Mom surfs, my girflfriend is learning, my sister too, my cousin was ESA champ two years in a row and I treat women exactly how I treat guys in the line-up.

It doesn't make me any happier to see a group of people showing up to my break, whether they are male, female, black, white, indian or japanese.

I don't see why you would promote for a whole group like that, it seperates people into groups and you end up treating people as a member of a group as opposed to an individual.

If people don't surf, guess they're just more into doing other things, if they want to surf, they'll find their way out there eventually. Simple as that

BUT!!! I would spend more time in the water, for sure, if someone gave me a new wetsuit, xcel infiniti 6/5/4 size 8, please, as soon as possible!!!

Promo is sort of, for the sake of. Support means nurturing the athletes, sponsorship, etc. More about giving. There are a couple of male surfers here in sweden sponsored, any women? Someone ought to step-up.

On the other hand, there are many female pros who make more money than some of the males on the top 44, so sometimes it goes the other way. I guess, in the end, it comes down to marketability. Uglier pros make less than handsome/beautiful ones.

Folks: Unforuntaly you've mostly seemed to miss the point or see the actual thought behind my suggestion. We've seen some pretty seriously negative discusions about women surfing in this forum, it's not an easy sport to approch in this country because of the conditions. It doesn't have to be any more särbehandling than me taking my son and two of his friends to Billudden specifically to see if they might like the feel of surfing.

You see them as a group that needs help, that is the problem and you misunderstood Pikles and myselt, if girls want to surf, they'll surf. They don't need crutches, wheelchairs and some sort of benefit day, like they are incapable.

Obviously there is a point at which political correctness enters the realm of absurdity .....
